Photo Walk | Al Qudra Desert

Capture the essence of two desert locations with the assistance of a professional photographer.

What's Covered

Capture the essence of two desert locations with the assistance of a professional photographer. Our walk will take us to the Al Qudra desert, followed by Al Qudra lakes. Gain exposure to the colours, textures, flora, fauna and atmosphere of the desert as the sun sets.

 

Exploring the area with your guide, you will be set some photo challenges, aimed at presenting a new way of seeing things. You will come home with a variety of images from your afternoon.

 

At the end of the walk you will be invited to join our Facebook group set up for attendees of our photowalks where we encourage you to share and comment on each other's images in the group.

 

 

Meeting point: We will meet at the car park next to Last Exit - You can put "Last Exit Al Qudra" in to Google Maps to reach the exact meeting location.


Important!: You will meet the instructors at the meeting point then drive in your own car to the shooting locations in a convoy with the rest of the group. Carpooling is also completely alright, so please feel free to give out a shout in the whatsapp group if you are looking for a carpool. Whilst we will not be doing off-roading it is strongly recommended that you have a car which is suitable to be driven on hard sand, as we will be leaving the road in some places to reach our shooting destinations. Please also remember to have a full tank of fuel!

 

*The the desert location is weather dependent. If the wind is over 20km/hour or too blustery on arrival at our desert meeting point, a more shaded spot in Al Qudra lakes will be substituted as an alternative.

  • Note: Those who have attended our Photography Level 1 and/or Photography Level 2 workshops prior to attending will benefit most fully from this workshop, as you will be better equipped to inject your storytelling with creative photography techniques. 
  • Please note that photo walks are done on foot, so expect lots of walking.
  • Suitable for all. This workshop assumes no prior knowledge of photography.

What to bring
  • A camera with a fully charged battery - whether it’s a mobile phone or a DSLR. All are welcome. 
  • If you’re shooting with a camera, we recommend you bring 1 lens with a focal length of around 35mm or wider. If you don’t have a lens that wide, bring one that you do have⏤your instructor will teach you how to work with it. 
  • A spare battery, or battery pack charger if you’re shooting with your phone. 
  • You must have Whatsapp installed and working as we will be communcating locations to the group via this method. You will be added to a Whatsapp group shortly before the walk. 
  • Water/snacks.
  • A thirst for adventure. Please pack light and bring all of your belongings and gear in one small camera bag. We will be moving around constantly and thus large camera bags and lots of gear will be cumbersome.

Cancellation Policy
  • If you cancel your workshop a minimum of 7 days in advance of your photo walk, you will be issued a 90% refund or may be rescheduled to another date(s).
  • If you cancel your workshop a minimum of 3 days (72 hours) in advance of your photo walk, no refund will be issued, but you may request to be rescheduled to another photo walk date.
  • If you cancel your workshop less than 3 days (72 hours) in advance of your photo walk, no refund and no reschedule is possible.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Photo Walks can be rescheduled within 3 months of the originally booked phtoo walk date(s).
  • Bookings can only be transferred ONCE. If you transfer your photo walk booking and later wish to cancel it, we will not be able to refund or reschedule you under any circumstances.
  • GPP reserves the right to change the route of any photo walk to another location within the same areas as deemed necessary in accordance with management discretion.
  • You must be 18 or older to attend this photo walk. If you are younger than 16 or booking for someone under 18 years of age, please contact us first and we will be happy to advise you.
  • Please note that by booking this workshop you agree to share your registered mobile phone number with the instructors and other photo walk participants for the purpose of adding you to a Whatsapp group to coordinate with the party for logistical purposes.
