Creating Professional Interior and Architectural Images

Level: Lighting - Intermediate

Just as the disciplines of architecture and design require a careful balancing act of creativity and technical knowhow, photographing buildings and their interiors demands that same careful calibration between the left and right brain.

A successful architectural and interior photographer knows how to represent a space accurately while also taking creative license to depict how it feels to be in that space by cleverly employing light and leading lines, bringing a space to life.

In this workshop, students will elevate their architectural and interior photography under the guidance of Mike Kelley, whose work has appeared in such publications as WIRED and Travel + Leisure. After an initial lecture, you’ll have the opportunity to shoot on location under Mike’s guidance, learning how to face a variety of challenges posed by different spaces.

The hands-on experience will replicate what it is like to shoot interiors for a client, and the resulting work will enhance your portfolio to help you attracts clients in the future. Lastly, you’ll receive focused feedback on your images, and Mike will offer a demonstration of his workflow process and go-to tools in Photoshop, for which he’ll offer a handout that you can reference after your future architectural and interior shoots.
