Portraits, Props and Beauty Techniques
Level: Lighting - Intermediate
Access to the right props and accessories for portraits can be hard and sometimes expensive, but it doesn’t need to be.
In this 1-day workshop, you will learn how you can build simple but effective props using everyday materials and then use them to stage a quirky portrait with a weird fashion flair. You will learn how to pose your model and light her for a beauty portrait and how to make small adjustments that make a big difference in the final image.
Sara will talk about the importance of creating your photo around a strong concept and communicating your ideas to everyone working with you on set, with the help of references and moodboards.
A beauty portrait isn’t over when you download your images on the computer, and post-production can make or break your shot. We will go over some Photoshop tools as we work together on an image from Sara’s demo photoshoot. We’ll also cover skin retouching techniques, some basic compositing and toning, and you will be given a set of actions and images to take home with you and experiment with, so that you can immediately practice what you learnt in class.
